Find Your Why: The Heartbeat of Your Business

Very few companies can clearly tell people WHY they do WHAT they do. And when we’re talking about WHY that doesn’t mean “for money.” That’s a result.

By “find your WHY” we mean, what is the PURPOSE of your company? WHY do you exist? What drives you? What is it that makes you tirelessly work for your company each and every day? You must believe in something. What is it? And WHY should anyone care?

Good questions, right? We think so. And most of that we stole like an artist from our friend, Simon. But, we believe in the WHY.

The Power of Purpose

  • Motivation: A strong purpose can motivate your team and keep them focused on their goals.
  • Differentiation: A unique purpose can help your business stand out from competitors.
  • Customer Connection: A shared purpose can create a deeper connection with your customers.
  • Resilience: A strong sense of purpose can help your business weather challenges and setbacks.

And at BARK, our WHY is helping you tell the story of yours.

If you’re like most companies, you know the heart behind your WHY but the words are hard to come by. It‘s hard telling your story in a clear, concise, and impactful way.

Why is Your “Why” Important?

  • Purpose-Driven Decisions: A strong “why” guides your business decisions and keeps you focused on your mission.
  • Customer Connection: When your customers understand your “why,” they are more likely to connect with your brand on a deeper level.
  • Employee Engagement: A shared purpose can inspire and motivate your team, leading to increased engagement and productivity.
  • Brand Differentiation: Your “why” sets you apart from competitors and makes your brand memorable.

Find Your WHY

  • Self-Reflection: Take time to consider your personal values and motivations. What drives you to do what you do?
  • Customer Feedback: Listen to your customers and understand their needs and desires.
  • Team Input: Involve your team in the process of defining your “why.”
  • Consider Your Impact: Think about how your business contributes to your community and society as a whole.

Crafting Your Story

Once you’ve identified your WHY, it’s time to craft a compelling narrative that communicates your purpose effectively. Storytelling is a powerful tool for bringing your brand’s purpose to life. By sharing your story, you can connect with your audience on a deeper level and inspire them to support your business.

Consider the following questions:

  • How does your business help people or make a difference?
  • What are your core values and beliefs?
  • What sets your business apart from competitors?
  • What is your vision for the future?

Key Elements of a Compelling Brand Story:

  • Authenticity: Be genuine and honest in your storytelling.
  • Relevance: Ensure your story is relevant to your target audience and addresses their needs.
  • Emotion: Connect with your audience on an emotional level by sharing personal stories and anecdotes.
  • Consistency: Maintain a consistent brand voice and messaging across all channels.
